How do I check if my laptop is good enough for schoolwork at NWACC?

✅ What You Need for NWACC Classes:
Before diving into schoolwork, make sure your laptop meets these basic requirements. These specs will help you run Canvas, Microsoft Office, and other common tools smoothly.
- RAM: 8 GB or more
- Operating System (OS): Windows 10 or 11 (not Windows 10 S mode), macOS 12 or higher
- Storage (Memory): 256 GB or more (SSD preferred)

Not sure what you have? It’s easy to find out. Just follow the steps below to check your system info.
Start Here (Windows 10 or 11)
- Click the search bar or magnifying glass icon in the bottom left corner
- Type:
About your PC
and select it
- Scroll to Windows specifications to find your version
Now that you know:
- If it says Windows 11, follow the steps below 👇
- If it says Windows 10, scroll down for those steps ⬇️
For Windows 11
- In the "About your PC" window, scroll down to see:
- Storage (Memory) (e.g., 256 GB)
- Installed RAM (e.g., 8 GB)
- Scroll further to find Windows specifications: Edition and version
For Windows 10
- After opening "About your PC", scroll to see:
- Installed RAM (e.g., 8 GB)
- Windows specifications: Edition and version (e.g., Windows 10 Home)
To check storage:
- Search for
File Explorer
and open it - Click This PC (left side)
- Look for: Devices and drives
- Check the blue bar under Windows (C:). It will say something like “92.8 GB free of 235 GB”
- The second number is your total storage capacity
🍎 For macOS
- Click the Apple menu (top left) > About This Mac
- In the Overview tab, look for:
- macOS version (e.g., macOS 13 Ventura)
- Memory (RAM) (e.g., 8 GB)
- Click More Info and scroll down to find Storage (e.g., 256 GB)
